Moscow Corner opens in Lumpini Park

The grand opening of the Moscow Corner with a sundial in the form of a miraculous Firebird took place in Lumpini Park, central Bangkok, on 13 December. The ceremony was attended by Sergey Cheryomin, Moscow Government Minister and Head of the Department for External Economic and International Relations of Moscow, Deputy Governor of Bangkok Mrs. Wanvilai Promlakano, and Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the Kingdom of Thailand Kirill Barsky.

Hundreds of Bangkok residents attended the opening ceremony. Igor Butman Orchestra conducted by the maestro himself performed jazz compositions for the park audiences.

Lumpini Park is the city’s largest park and a favourite getaway spot for the residents and guests of the Thai capital. It was built in the 1920s by the order of King Rama VI, and is a great place to enjoy quiet fun times or to engage in athletic activities.

A photo exhibition about Moscow opened in the evening of 14 December as a follow-up to the cultural programme presenting easily recognisable architectural sites of the city and modern views of the Russian capital. Igor Butman Quintet’s big jazz concert at the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre was a great success.
